Miami Outlets: The 2026 Guide

1. Overview

• In the Miami area, the three big outlets are in three different counties: Dolphin Mall (Miami-Dade), Sawgrass Mills (Broward, near Fort Lauderdale) and Tanger Outlets Palm Beach (West Palm Beach) ^[2][5][8].
• Dolphin Mall is the closest to Miami's airport: about 5 miles, according to the mall ^[5]. Sawgrass Mills describes itself as the largest outlet and value retail destination in the U.S. ^[2].
• The tax at the register depends on the county: 7% in Miami-Dade and Broward and 6.5% in Palm Beach. Florida has no tax refund for tourists ^[18][19][20].

2. The outlets

2.1 Dolphin Mall

• Address: 11401 NW 12th Street, Miami, FL 33172. Phone: (305) 365-7446 ^[5].
• Who runs it: the official website presents Dolphin Mall as a Simon mall ^[4][5]. It used to be a Taubman center, and Simon completed its purchase of 100% of Taubman Realty Group on Nov 3, 2025 ^[7]. ⚠️ Unverified / check before you go: we have not confirmed whether day-to-day management is still with the Taubman team. The mall's own website (shopdolphinmall.com) did not load when we checked.
• Size: more than 240 stores, restaurants and entertainment options, such as Bowlero and Dave & Buster's, according to the mall ^[5].
• Getting there
  • Metrobus: route 7 connects Downtown Miami to the Dolphin Mall bus terminal via NW 7th St, every day. Route 107 connects Dolphin Mall to Cutler Bay, also every day. Route 338 runs from the airport (MIA) station to Dolphin Mall on weekends ^[14]. Since 27/04/2026, route 7 runs every 20 minutes at weekday peak times and no longer leaves from the airport ^[15].
  • Metrobus fare: US$ 2.25. Bus-to-bus transfers are free for 3 hours, only with an EASY Card or EASY Ticket; if you pay cash, you pay the full fare each time you board. 1-day pass: US$ 5.65; 7-day pass: US$ 29.25. You can pay with a contactless card, through the GO Miami-Dade Transit app or in cash ^[12][13]. ⚠️ Unverified / check before you go: the mall's page still says US$ 2 per ride. We use the amount from the county's official website ^[13].
  • Metrorail: does not reach the mall, according to Dolphin Mall itself ^[5].
  • Partner shuttle (paid): the mall recommends USA Caribbean Tours, with pick-up at Collins Ave and 5th St (South Beach), at Bayside Marketplace (Downtown) and at MIA airport (terminals E and H). You can book one-way or round trip at usacaribbeantours.com. The mall doesn't publish the price ^[5].
  • Hotel shuttle: according to the mall, there is free transportation from the DoubleTree by Hilton Miami Doral, Residence Inn by Marriott Doral Mall Area, InterContinental at Doral Miami and Sonesta Simply Suites Miami Airport Doral. Confirm with your hotel ^[5].
  • Uber/rideshare: pick-up and drop-off at Entrance 3, near The Cheesecake Factory and Texas de Brazil ^[5].
  • Car: via the Dolphin Expressway (SR 836) or the Florida Turnpike, exit 27 (NW 12 St). From Miami Beach: 836 West, then Turnpike North, NW 12 St exit ^[5].
  • Parking: free, including a parking garage near Old Navy Outlet. Valet next to Ramblas Plaza, near P.F. Chang's: US$ 13 Monday to Thursday, US$ 15 Friday to Sunday and holidays, VIP US$ 25 (prices as shown on the mall's page on 27/10/2026) ^[5].
• Brands (sample): Nike Factory Store, Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store, Brooks Brothers Factory Store, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Coach Outlet, Michael Kors Outlet, Old Navy Outlet, Victoria's Secret, abercrombie kids, Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH and Bloomingdale's The Outlet Store. • Hours: Monday to Saturday, 10:00–21:00; Sunday, 11:00–20:00. Individual stores may keep their own hours ^[4].
  • 2026 special dates: Thanksgiving (26/11) closed; Black Friday (27/11) 06:00–23:00; 28/11 10:00–23:00; 14 to 23/12, 10:00–22:00; Christmas Eve (24/12) 10:00–18:00; Christmas Day (25/12) closed; 26/12 10:00–22:00; 31/12 10:00–18:00 ^[4].
• Tax-free: not available in Florida. 7% tax (see section 3) ^[19][20].
• Tips:
  • There are luggage lockers: US$ 10 for a large one (fits a large suitcase) and US$ 8 for a small one (carry-on), at Entrance 3, in the food court (Entrance 8) and near Victoria's Secret ^[5]. Handy if you come straight from the airport or have a long layover.
  • The mall says it offers luggage storage and currency exchange for travelers ^[5].
  • ATMs at Entrances 2, 3, 4 and 8; motorized scooter rental for US$ 15 at the information desk near Entrance 3, card only ^[5].

2.2 Sawgrass Mills

• Address: 12801 W Sunrise Blvd, Sunrise, FL 33323. Phone: (954) 846-2350 ^[2].
• Who runs it: Simon ^[2].
• Size: more than 350 stores, in an enclosed, air-conditioned mall. The luxury wing, The Colonnade Outlets, has more than 70 outlets, according to the mall ^[2].
• Getting there
  • BCT bus: according to the mall, Broward County Transit (BCT) routes 22, 23, 36 and 72 serve Sawgrass Mills, stopping at the West Dining Pavilion, next to Marshalls ^[2]. On the BCT website, routes 22 and 36 run every day and route 23 only on weekdays ^[27]. Plan your trip with the BCT trip planner (broward.org/bct) ^[27].
  • 595 Express (route 110): according to the mall, it connects Downtown Miami and Brickell to the Amerant Bank Arena, across from the mall, only on weekdays and at peak times ^[2]. It is a bus designed for commuters.
  • Tri-Rail: according to the mall, get off at the Fort Lauderdale station and take BCT route 22 westbound, which goes straight to the mall. From Fort Lauderdale airport (FLL), first take a free shuttle to that station ^[2].
  • Brightline: from Brightline's Fort Lauderdale station, it is about 25 minutes by taxi or rideshare to the mall, according to Sawgrass ^[2].
  • Private transfers (paid): the mall lists companies such as Distinction Travel (transfers from Miami and Miami Beach, +1-754-246-7124) and Shuttle D'Luxe (786-361-8429). The mall doesn't publish prices ^[2].
  • Car: from I-95, take I-595 westbound to the Flamingo Road (SR 823) exit. Head north, cross Sunrise Blvd and turn left at the first light ^[2].
  • Parking: around the mall and in two parking garages. The website doesn't list a price for regular parking. Valet is available at several locations ^[2]. ⚠️ Unverified / check before you go: the mall's page shows two different valet price tables, so we don't publish amounts.
• Brands (sample): Nike Factory Store, Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store, adidas Outlet Store, Coach Outlet, Michael Kors Outlet, Tory Burch and, in the luxury wing, Gucci, Prada, Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin and Versace. Sample from the official directory on 27/10/2026; stores change ^[3].
• Hours: Monday to Saturday, 10:00–21:00; Sunday, 11:00–20:00. Individual stores may keep their own hours ^[1].
  • 2026 special dates: Thanksgiving (26/11) closed; Black Friday (27/11) 06:00–22:00; 11 to 23/12, 10:00–22:00; Christmas Eve (24/12) 09:00–18:00; Christmas Day (25/12) closed; 26/12 09:00–21:00; 27/12 10:00–20:00; 31/12 10:00–18:00 ^[1].
• Tax-free: not available in Florida. 7% tax (section 3) ^[19][20].
• Tips:
  • There is a currency exchange (Currency Exchange International) near adidas, at the East Entrance ^[2].
  • Lockers at the East End, near Primark and HomeSense ^[2].
  • Simon Guest Services is across from Burlington, with free wheelchairs. There is a U.S. Postal Service (USPS) office in the East Court, near Super Target ^[2].
  • According to the mall, some of the service staff speak other languages ^[2].

2.3 Tanger Outlets Palm Beach

• Address: 1751 Palm Beach Lakes Blvd, West Palm Beach, FL 33401. Phone: (561) 515-4400 ^[8][9].
• Who runs it: Tanger, since July 2022, in partnership with the property owner, Clarion Partners. The former Palm Beach Outlets was renamed Tanger Outlets Palm Beach ^[10].
• Profile: open-air outlet, according to Tanger ^[9].
• Getting there
  • Palm Tran bus: route 33 stops at "Tanger Outlets" (stop no. 603) every day. The same route serves Tri-Rail's Mangonia Park station ^[16][17].
  • Car: from I-95, exit 71, at Palm Beach Lakes Blvd ^[9].
  • Parking: the website doesn't list a price. There are EV chargers and preferred parking for TangerClub members in front of Nike ^[9].
• Brands (sample): Brooks Brothers Factory Store, Coach, Columbia Factory Store, Crocs, J.Crew | Crewcuts Factory and Kate Spade New York. Sample from the official website on 27/10/2026; stores change ^[8].
• Hours: Monday to Thursday, 10:00–20:00; Friday and Saturday, 10:00–21:00; Sunday, 10:00–19:00. Checked on 27/10/2026 ^[8]. ⚠️ Unverified / check before you go: Tanger has not yet published its 2026 holiday hours (Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Christmas). Check tanger.com/palmbeach or call (561) 515-4400 closer to the date.
• Tax-free: not available in Florida. 6.5% tax (section 3) ^[19][20].
• Tips:
  • Stroller rental in front of TooJay's Deli: US$ 10, with US$ 1 back when you return it ^[9].
  • The outlet is pet-friendly ^[9].

3. Sales tax and tax-free shopping in the Miami area

• The U.S. has no VAT: the tax is sales tax, added to the price tag at the register ^[18][20].
• The rate is Florida's 6% state rate ^[18], plus a county surtax (discretionary sales surtax) ^[19]:
  • Miami-Dade (Dolphin Mall): 7%, including 1% county surtax ^[19].
  • Broward (Sawgrass Mills): 7%, including 1% county surtax, in effect until 31/12/2048 ^[19].
  • Palm Beach (Tanger Outlets Palm Beach): 6.5%, including 0.5% county surtax, in effect from 1/1/2026 to 31/12/2035 ^[19].
• There is no refund for tourists. The Florida Department of Revenue says the law does not allow a refund of sales tax paid during a visit, even if the item leaves the state ^[20].
• In practice: to compare with prices at home, add 7% (Dolphin Mall and Sawgrass Mills) or 6.5% (Palm Beach) to the price on the tag ^[18][19].

4. Miami-area outlet news and updates

• 01/01/2026: the tax in Palm Beach dropped to 6.5%. The 1% county surtax ended on 31/12/2025, and a new 0.5% surtax began on 1/1/2026 ^[19].
• 27/04/2026: Metrobus route 7 started running to Dolphin Mall every 20 minutes at weekday peak times and no longer leaves from the airport ^[15].
• 27/10/2026: Sawgrass Mills and Dolphin Mall published their holiday hours. Both close on Thanksgiving (26/11) and Christmas Day (25/12) and open at 06:00 on Black Friday (27/11) ^[1][4].

5. Taking it home (Brazil's Receita Federal allowance)

This section applies only to travelers who live in Brazil. If you live in another country, check your own country's customs rules before you travel. Duty-free allowance: arriving in Brazil by air or sea, each traveler has an allowance of US$ 1,000 in goods, granted once every 30 days. The allowance is individual and non-transferable: you can't combine it with family members' allowances. Duty-free purchases made when leaving Brazil or abroad may count toward this allowance ^[21]. Duty-free on arrival: there is an additional allowance of US$ 1,000 for purchases at the duty-free shop of the first airport of arrival in Brazil ^[21]. Over the allowance? Anything above it pays 50% import duty. Declare it through e-DBV and go through the "Bens a Declarar" (goods to declare) channel. Anyone who goes through "Nada a Declarar" (nothing to declare) with goods that should have been declared is fined 50% of the amount over the allowance ^[22]. Quantity limits: for goods over US$ 10, the limit is up to 20 units, with no more than 03 identical items; for goods under US$ 10, up to 20 units, with no more than 10 identical items ^[21]. For information only; it does not replace the Receita Federal's Guia do Viajante. Check the current rules before you travel.

6. Official coupons and rewards programs

• Simon+ (Dolphin Mall and Sawgrass Mills): Simon's free loyalty program, which replaced the former VIP Shopper Club ^[23]. Both malls promote sign-up on their own websites ^[1][4]. We don't publish coupons or member discounts: see the offers on the official website after you sign up.
  • If you live outside the U.S.: according to Simon's help center, residents of some countries can sign up as a Limited Access Member, with access to exclusive offers at participating Simon centers in the U.S., but no points and no cashback ^[24]. Simon doesn't publish the list of these countries and may change who is eligible at any time, without notice ^[24][25]. ⚠️ Unverified / check before you go: there is no confirmation that residents of Brazil can sign up. Brazil appears neither in the help center nor in the program terms ^[24][25]. Try signing up before you travel.
• TangerClub (Tanger Outlets Palm Beach): basic membership is free and gives you digital coupons and points on purchases. There is a paid tier, Gold, for US$ 20 a year. It is valid at all Tanger locations ^[11]. We don't publish coupon amounts.
  • Sign-up: under the program terms, all you need is a valid email address. You must be 16 or older (18 for the paid tier), and each person may have only one account ^[26]. The terms say nothing about people who live outside the U.S., so we can't say that residents of Brazil can join ^[26].
  • Linked card: card-linked benefits only accept Visa or American Express ^[26].
